I just wanted to email you a huge thank you. I did the Pet First Aid course yesterday with Renee at All About Dogs. I loved it, really really loved it. It reminded me of 25 years ago the course for St. John Ambulance National Lifeguard Water Patrol, except for doggies. I also have to say Renee is AMAZING. She is an excellent teacher, great sense of humour, explains things well and patient. I am so glad I went and will promote the heck of it to all my doggie friends. It sure is a lot to grasp in that short time, I can't imagine how any of those other 4 hour supposed first aid courses could cover nearly as much as your course does.

Thank you again, I honestly do feel better about being a responsible pet owner.

XOXOXOXOXO

Hi Lisa.
This knowledge is something that every pet owner should have. I actually had to use CPR on a dog today and I did save his life. I don’t know what would have happened if I didn't take this course. It was a scary situation. While 2 dogs were playing dog #1 got his mouth caught in the collar of dog #2 (Kobe). Of course it had to be two 100 lb labs which made it even more difficult to get them apart. Thankfully there were 3 people there at the time. Two of us each held a dog while the 3rd person cut the collar off. Unfortunately by the time we were able to cut the collar Kobe had quit breathing. I checked for a pulse - no pulse either. I immediately started chest compressions. He sputtered a bit but after 3 false revivals he was back. Without Walks ‘N’ Wags Pet First Aid training I would never have known what to do and Kobe, the 100 lb black lab, would be dead.

**Walks ‘N’ Wags note: K9 Club has since implemented a rule disallowing martingale collars to be worn in play.**

I had attended other pet first aid classes in the past and came to Walks ‘n’ Wags for a refresher. I learned lots of useful, new information. Lisa was fantastic – knowledgeable, approachable, and fun. Would highly recommend it!

This was an amazing course. I now don’t have to fear about going out on long hikes and not knowing what to do if one of my dog clients gets hurt. Lisa is the best.

Wiggly Bums Dog Walking,
Thanks so much Lisa…it is wonderful to see that my hard work paid off!! I must tell you this was a very rewarding course to have taken and I’ve learned so many new things…I feel very confident that I will be able to handle most any first aid situation that may arise. Your comments were most appreciated and I’m so glad you found this to be a thorough job as I really, really did work many hours to ensure I had a good understanding of the material…this is not the type of course I would want to breeze through!!

Lisa,
I decided to take Walks ‘N’ Wags Pet First Aid Course because I was starting a dog walking business but now I would recommend it to anyone that has a pet at home. There was a lot of useful and life-saving information for your pets in the Walks ‘N’ Wags course. The instructor (Mike) was really thorough and was able to break down the information well. He also encouraged us to ask questions throughout. I feel much more confident now running a dog walking and pet sitting business, knowing that I would be able to react properly in an emergency situation.

Hi Lisa,
I just thought I'd let you know (since I had mentioned it a few times in class) that we had to put one of my dogs down. I had mentioned in class that Sargent (Sarg) was very sick with lymphatic cancer and sadly he got to the point where it was just cruel and selfish to keep him alive. I don't know if it was divine intervention or what but I was originally going to wait and take your course in May which would have been a while after he was put down. This would have meant I would not have received your hand out regarding grief (the handout that included the poem about an animal that dies and the sadness we feel). A poem that also helped encourage me to believe what I already knew, that it was the right thing to do, despite the sadness wavering my feelings on it.

So thank you SOOOO MUCH for including that in your course, especially since it is a strong fact of life that we will all encounter this horrible, and extremely hard experience at some point. It truly was the HARDEST thing I have ever had to do, as my animals really are like children to me. I have attached a couple pictures of him if you'd like to see him!
    Again thanks so much.

Our dog Louie is really sweet and full of energy but we found that he was often too much to handle for visitors to our home. Knowing that Walks ‘n’ Wags has being walking him for the past couple of years and knows him really well we decided to give their training program a try. We had tried several other training courses before but nothing had worked or was realistic for our schedule. Lisa was great; she came right to our home and showed us ways to work with Louie in our every day routine. She tailored a training program specifically to our needs and it was based on lots of praise and attention for Louie. It was super easy to put into practice and we enjoyed spending the time training him because we were all enjoying it. After 3 sessions and lots of practice Louie has completely changed! Now he is a bundle of energy when we take him to the park but knows how to be calm and well behaved when we have guests over. I can’t believe how easy and effective Lisa’s training program was and we are so thankful for Walks ‘N’ Wags! Now our guests love Louie as much as we do.

Just wanted to update you on Rolo. He is listening to me much better and when called he listens and comes right to me. We did get the Miracle harness for me and it works wonders! So much easier to control him (with one tug) rather than my shoulder being sore all the time. I just want to say that the 5 second sniffing is the best thing you’ve taught me. I’m not so scared about walking him with dogs around because he is “allowed” to sniff.
We took him to MacDonald Beach in Richmond (for dogs) last Sunday and it’s his first time swimming! He loved the water and playing with other dogs as well. I’ve attached a couple of pictures of him.
We just want to say thanks again for taking the time to teach us and being very patient with Rolo. Take Care!!!

Shortly after getting my first dog Lady, I took the Walks 'N' Wags Pet First Aid course on the advice of a friend. It was exactly what I needed to feel more comfortable with the responsibility of caring for my new pup! The course was very informative and fun - I really appreciated how the instructor presented the material with clear explanation, practical exercises, and games. The course manual is also a great resource that I continue check when needed.

Lisa has been a colleague of mine in the pet care world for many years now. I have great respect for her and the way she genuinely cares about the well-being of the animals. It only seemed natural to me that Lisa would take over "the world" with her Pet First Aid courses. Before I started dog training exclusively I owned a dog daycare and dog walking company. I made sure to put my staff through this very comprehensive first aid course. In the past I have called on Lisa for advice for animal wellness and she has given me some expert advice. I would highly recommend anyone, pet owner or pet care professional, who would like to gain knowledge in pet first aid to take a Walks ‘N' Wags course.

I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for a fun and interactive course yesterday. If there are any more courses available in pet first aid, I will be definitely interested in attending your classes again. It was fun, informative and I am proud to display my certificate. Baxter also was such a little trooper! Thank you once again. Warmest,

I work for the BCSPCA and use the skills from Walks ‘N’ Wags Pet First Aid course everyday. We often get in injured domestic and wild animals that need our help. I also do after-hours emergency when cats or dogs have been hit by cars or other accidents. These skills are always handy to have.

Just to update that I have completed the Walks ‘N’ Wags Pet 1st Aid course on Nov 13 & 14, 2010. The course is very informative and I really enjoyed the interaction throughout the 2 day course. Jody is a dynamic instructor. I am interested to become an instructor as I strongly believe in the need to equip pet owners with the knowledge on handling emergency situations.

I would recommend Walks 'N' Wags Pet First Aid program to anyone, professional and pet owner alike. Best Friends Pet Care certifies each of our cat & dog care workers in this program, to ensure we are giving our clients to best service possible. There is so much great information not only on emergency skills (like CPR and how to bandage wounds) but also recognition of early signs your pet may be sick. Cat sitting and dog walking over the years, we have had opportunity to notify of our clients of changes we saw in their pets - in some cases even before they noticed! This has resulted in our clients receiving early onset veterinary diagnoses of diabetes, bladder stones, sight issues, hip and knee weakness as well as other problems. Just like with people, early diagnosis and prevention is key. Without such a thorough pet first aid course we may not have had the skills to notice the subtle changes in behaviours indicating something was wrong in the first place. We all want our beloved pets to live the healthiest life they can, and Walks ‘N’ Wags Pet First Aid program definitely gives you the base of knowledge to know you have done your best for them every day.

I have not had to use the Pet First Aid skills yet but very much enjoyed the course. I am now fully in my own business and more confident knowing I have the Walks ‘N’ Wags Pet First Aid course behind me.
